LADY'S SLIPPER Calceolaria fothergillii

This unusual little plant is named for its resemblence to a small slipper, this somewhat hairy little orange/ yellow flower grows to about 12 cm ( 4.7 inches) high and may be seen in November/ December.

They are widespread and locally common and likely to be found on dry coastal slopes and Diddle- dee heath on East and West Falklands.

Lady's Slippers are endemic to the Falkland Islands. This plant is legally protected. It is an offence to deliberately pick, collect, cut, uproot or destroy a protected wild plant.
